This week, we are going to tell you about the Nevada Palace Hotel and Casino. It was located at 5255 Boulder Highway. It opened in 1979. The resort made an effort to attract people, who were driving by, to stop in.
With a few hundred rooms, the Nevada Palace had the capacity to accommodate anyone who would want to stop by. The resort had a full service R.V. Park and a parking area for big-wheeled trucks.
On the gaming front, there were over 500 slot machines, approximately a dozen table games, live keno and a sportsbook. Like many resorts, you could also find steak and seafood at the Nevada Palace at La Bella Steak and Seafood.
Many people know that some things in Las Vegas are open 24 hours. For example, Nevada Palace had a 24-hour coffee shop. The hotel also had a swimming pool and large jacuzzi.
In 2006, the Nevada Palace was purchased by Cannery Casino Resorts. At that time, they also owned the Rampart Casino and Cannery Casino in Las Vegas.
In February of 2008, the Nevada Palace closed. A rebranding of the casino and hotel then began. Parts of the Nevada Palace were torn down to make way for the new resort. In August of 2008, the Eastside Cannery opened its doors to the public.
Today, the parking lot is where the Nevada Palace was located. The Eastside Cannery has over 300 rooms, 2000 slot machines, 26 table games and a sportsbook.
In 2016, Boyd Gaming purchased the Eastside Cannery. Today, you can stop by and remember the Nevada Palace and enjoy the new resort that is bigger than anything that has ever been there.
